Whiskeyjack Lake

Consider this: the Departments of Tourism and Natural Resources have granted you a permit to establish a new outpost cabin on Manitoba’s Whiskeyjack Lake or Hallen Lake. The problem is that both lakes have phenomenal Northern Pike and Walleye fishing, and a mind boggling number of potential building sites. The solution? Build the cabin alongside the set of rapids that separates the two lakes, then put boats on both Whiskeyjack and Hallen. We know that the fishing on Whiskeyjack Lake and Hallen Lake is great! The portage from the cabin to Hallen Lake is 100 yards. Walleye in these lakes average 18″-24″ and Northern Pike average 27″-40″, with many Master Anglers.

Whiskeyjack Lake set a new standard in the Canadian fly-in outpost experience; we have combined a well-appointed log cabin and dependable equipment with a healthy fish resource and proper management of that resource. The cabin was designed and furnished so that our guests would feel like they were at a close friend’s cottage.

The sights and sounds of the rapids aren’t the only attraction right outside your door; your dock extends into a walleye hole. Shore lunch is rarely more than a cast away from the end of the dock. We are particularly proud of this outpost.

Cabin Details

We are the only outfitter on the lakes. The eight-person frame cabin made of local logs sits on a huge slab of granite bedrock that forms a point, pushing its way into the Astutini Rapids. The floor plan consists of two bedrooms that each sleep four, a bathroom (hot and cold running water and shower), a kitchen (equipped with all pots, pans, etc.), and a living room with an attached 2.4m by 7.3m (8′ by 24′) screened porch. There is also a screened-in fish house with running water and a propane chest freezer, as well as a propane BBQ and propane fish cooker. The site has solar power, a wood stove for heat, and an outhouse.

Boats & Motors

This outcamp has three 14′ Lund boats on Whiskeyjack Lake and one 14′ boat at Hallen Lake equipped with 9.9 h.p. motors. We supply life jackets, swivel seats, landing nets, anchors, paddles and gas.
